C.A.I.R.E.
Centro de Atencion Integral Roger Evans (CAIRE) is
a development center built by Fundacion Roberta Felix
to provide physical and speech therapies, and specialized
education. CAIRE was inaugurated on September
24th, 2004 and will serve as a central location in
the community for the disabled children of Aguirre
and Parrita to receive care and education. Therapy
services are provided by volunteer students and staff
from Universidad de Santa Paula. CAIRE also features
a library with books for children and their parents. Zaidy
Barrantes Mora serves as director at CAIRE in addition
to her duties of teacher of special education.
Classroom for disabled students
In June 2003, The Felix Foundation completed a special
classroom at the elementary school in Parrita for
children with severe disabilities. In February
2005, the Costa Rican government for the first time
will staff the classroom. We hope for the government
to similarly fund The Center in Aguirre County at
some point in time.
In February 2005 the Costa Rican Goverment will be
staffing this very special classroom.
